Check points:
See check-point location directions for ground support teams.
Also see pdf of course with check-point coordinates.
Racers' ground support will be able to provide their racers with food and fluid at these check points. There are two check-points on Day One and one check-point on Day Two. Day One check-points are at Holiday Hills at the 66 mm and the second is at Red Fox at the 50mm. On Day Two, the only check-point is at the Lodge of Four Seasons which is at mile mark 13.2
Check Points will be made easily identifiable. A well-marked pontoon boat will be stationed at each check point and, in addition, helium balloons will mark the check-point location.
Racers or their ground crew can confirm the passage of the racer to a check-point person on the pontoon or to one on the ground. If the racer or ground crew does not sign in for the racer, the racer should make certain by acknowledgement from the check-point person that they have correctly identified the boat.
Coast Guard Volunteers and LOWA Volunteer boats will be stategically located along the course as emergency boats and to provide added safety to the racers. State Water Patrol will also be available. In addition, safety boats will trail behind and shepherd home the last boat in the race.
As an additional aid to navigation, we will have a well-identified safety boat positioned at the mouth of any major cove that could be mistaken for the main channel.
